In the academic history of Bangladesh Insurance, S. M. Ibrahim Hossain is no doubt a saga of himself.
Since the beginning of his academic life, he secured ‘Junior Talent Scholarship’. In the SSC and HSC exam, he obtained ‘First Class’. Subsequently he got admitted into ‘Jahangir Nagar University, one of the top 05 public university in Bangladesh. He did Honours and Masters in Statistics with great results from Jahangir Nagar University, Dhaka.
Mr. Hossain started his career as the Program Officer at Caritas Bangladesh. Caritas Bangladesh is a Catholic charitable organization in Bangladesh associated with the Caritas Internationalis umbrella. It is formally governed by the Catholic Church’s Conference of Bishops of Bangladesh.
Fortunately in 1996 Mr. Ibrahim joined Bangladesh Insurance Academy, the only public insurance training institute. The only organization in Bangladesh providing insurance training and education is the Bangladesh Insurance Academy (BIA) founded in 1973. The management of this prestigious organization is vested in a board formed by the government. The academy additionally offers insurance training.
He later became the Faculty Member -01 and Faculty Member -02 and finally the Chief Faculty Member through his extra ordinary services to the Insurance Academy of Bangladesh.
Mr. Ibrahim passed the Diploma in Insurance (Life and non-life) from the same academy with Tysers Award.
In 2000 he passed the Graduate Diploma with distinction from Malaysian Insurance Institute, KL.
In 2005, Mr. Hossain achieved ACII Degree, the world’s most prestigious insurance professional qualification, from the Charted Insurance Institute of London. In Bangladesh market, there are only 14 ACII Degree holders.
Additionally, he participated more than 70 training courses across the globe, visiting the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Singapore, Thailand.
His contribution to the national insurance syllabus committee and the preparation/drafting of National Insurance Policy 2014 have been outstanding. He has written widely on Insurance having more than 05 publications.
Currently Mr. S.M Ibrahim Hossain has been serving as the Director of Bangladesh Insurance Academy.
Above all, he has inspired and guided many students of insurance throughout his career. We wish him a long life to the Almighty Allah.
