Mrs. Rashida Banu, has joined Reliance Insurance Ltd. as Deputy Managing Director on15th of July 2021.
Prior to this, Mrs Banu worked in Bangladesh General Insurance company Ltd ( popularly known as BGIC) in different capacities since the inception of her career. BGIC is deemed to the 1st generation private non-life insurance company in Bangladesh.
Throughout her career, she has reputation for deeper understanding of claims, reinsurance and underwriting of general insurance business. She has unparalleled leadership quality to lead the team for the better result-oriented performance, on top of her personal living as a down to earth person.
Academically, she obtained BA Hons, MSS Degree from University of Dhaka.
Professionally, Mrs. Banu, is a Chartered Insurer of the CII, London. Before this, she has also obtained DMII from Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII).
Talking of her professional standing, she completed Basic and Advanced Training courses in Non- Life Insurance from Swiss Insurance Training Centre(SITC), Zurich, Switzerland in 1993 and 1996 respectively under Swiss Govt. scholarship. Very few Bangladeshi nationals have received such a prestigious training.
She also attended many seminars, workshops in UK, Malaysia, Maldives, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India.
She is an examiner of Bangladesh Insurance Academy and also a part-time lecturer of several Training Institutes in the country.
Mrs. Rashida Banu is married. Her husband is a businessman and her only daughter Dr. Sarah is an Oncologist in the UK.
