Sadharan Bima Corporation (SBC), the govt. run insurer in Bangladesh has increased its profit by 8% in the year 2018, according to the unaudited financial statement of SBC. Market experts suggest that under the dynamic leadership of the chairman, SBC has managed to achieve this huge profit.
It is reported that for the first time, SBC has accepted in-orbit insurance of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 (BS-1), one of the mega projects of the present government. The sum insured was 140million euros and the insurance premium for this project is 681,000 euros.
Besides; SBC has been underwriting the following mega project insurance:
- Matarbari coal-fired power station,
- Single Line Dual Gauge Railway from Dohazari, Cox’s Bazar,
- Padma Bridge Rail Link,
- Rupur Nuclear Power Plant,
- Bangabandhu Tunnel and
- Metro Rail Dhaka.
